Missions trips

I recently asked the question on here if anyone had taken a missions trip before.  Sadly, more people have not taken a trip than have.  Let me encourage you to get out there and see what God is doing on a short term missions trip.  I am ashamed to admit that it took me 35 years to get outside of the US to see what God is doing around the world, but it changed my life when I saw what was going on in Honduras and the Dominican Republic.

You can go to Mexico, the Dominican Republic, or another country in Central America and not spend a ton of money or time.  You can fly into the Dominican for about $600 round trip and you can be there in the same day you leave.  We flew out of Nashville at about 6am and arrived in Santo Domingo at about 3pm.  We stayed for an entire week, but you could stay as little as three or four days.  The entire trip can be done for right around $1,000.  The great thing about a missions trip is that you can easily raise the money by simply asking people you know to donate toward it, do a fundraiser, or ask your church to assist you.

One thing I can assure you is that you will never regret the time you spend on a missions trip.  I can tell you story after story of the way it changed peoples lives.  I know people that have been called into full time missions because of a short term trip.  I know people that have adopted children because of a short term trip.  I know of people that have increased their vision, giving, and prayers because of a short term missions trip.  But I do not know of anyone who has ever said that it was a waste of their time and money to go on a short term missions trip.

Let me encourage you one more time to expand your vision for the world.  Get out of your comfort zone and GO! (Matthew 28:19) Full time mission is not for everyone one, but short term missions is.  We are all commanded to GO!!!
