What are the chances?

“What are the chances that ___________________”  (You fill in the blank with whatever you want to.)  Well, let me tell you that as long as God is in it, then the chances are 100%!  Have you ever wondered how something was going to get done, where you were going to get the money to pay a bill, or why something happened a certain way?

Here are some questions that we have had over the past couple of years.  How are we going to rent our home?  How are we going to go from 0% support to the field in just a little over a year?  How are we going to move a family of 5 to a foreign country?  How are we going to find a home that suits our family on our budget?

Those are all big questions that we have had, but in every instance, God has provided the answer and solution to our problem.  Let me tell you another story that happened this week.  This story is not a big deal, but it is sometimes in those small moments that we really realize how much God really cares about us.

Our ministry recently received a large donation of almost $50,000 for the development of the 46 acres of land that we own on the outskirts of town.  One of our first steps is to cut the roads into “Visionland”.  Since I am teaching in the school, I am not in the church staff meetings.  The past meeting they discussed the need to locate some corners of the roads on the “Visionland” that had previously been surveyed.

Well, in their first attempt to go out and find the corners, they found a couple of them, but realized the project was much bigger than they had planned.  The grass had grown up and hidden the concrete and metal pins that were marking the corners.  Since I was not privy to the conversations or the first trip to the property, I did not know what was happening.  Sunday night, I asked one of my fellow team members, Chad Justice, what his plans were for Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.  He said that he planned to go to the property to try to find these missing corners.

What are the chances???  My father-in-law was in town visiting from TN and he is a licensed land surveyor with over 35 years of experience.  Obviously he did not bring his equipment with him, so armed with a rough scale drawing of the property, a 30-meter tape measure, a metal locator, shovel, and a weed-eater, 5 of us set out on a mission to find the missing corners.  About three hours and 5 sunburns later, we had all the roads located!! wpid-2012-12-18-13.19.27

What are the chances that my father-in-law was visiting the very week we needed to get this project done so we could continue with the development of the land?  100% When God is in it.  It reminds me of the feeding of the 5,000. The disciples had no clue how Jesus was going to feed the people, but Jesus has it all under control the entire time.  Remember God’s plan and God’s purpose will always be accomplished in God’s time and in God’s way.

  1. The single coolest thing about the Christian life is that God loves us enough to take care of the minuscule details that make living for Him that much sweeter!

  2. GLAD TO SEE you got some work out of him and what a blessed coincidence he came at the right time – God does real good eh?

    In Christ
