We believe the Lord has called us to spread the gospel to all men! Each one of us has a distinct responsibility to share in the way God has gifted us.
In Eph. 4:11-13 the Bible says: 11 “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:”
The Lord has given both Julia and I the gift of teaching. We plan to use that gift in the Dominican Republic to spread the gospel as part of a “team ministry.”
Just like in a typical U.S. church ministry, it takes many people to fill all the roles and needs of the church in the Dominican. Not everyone can be a pastor, but we can all be missionaries! Whether it is across the street or around the world, our duty as Christians remains the same. With help from the Lord, His churches, and His people, we plan to teach the Dominicans about the Lord and His finished work on the cross! We want to make a difference and show the love of Christ to a nation that needs the Lord. Our goal is that Jude 22 will be true of us . . . “And of some have compassion, making a difference.”
We are partners with Daystar Baptist Mission Inc. (DBMI) – Daystar believes strongly in the team concept of mission. Not a team within a country, but a team within a city and within a ministry. We will be working hand-in-hand with several other Americans, as well as several other Dominicans, within and pre-established ministry. We will be teaching in the Christian school, discipling new converts, and working to build new churches.
Daystar also believes the key to reaching the people of the Dominican does not lie in the American’s hands, but in the hands of the Dominicans. We believe in training the Dominicans to go out and reach other Dominicans. We have strategically targeted a previously unreached people group in the D. R., the middle and upper class. These people have the means and the education to go out and continue to reach others for Christ, and start new churches. The goal is: Dominicans reaching Dominicans, and churches planting churches!
Another one of Daystar’s distinctives is that it believes in the authority of the local church in the lives of the missionaries. DBMI does not dictate policy and doctrine to its missionaries, it is simply a facilitator and a tool used by local churches. All authority is left to the sending church and the church on the field. Daystar understands that the command to go into all the world and preach the gospel was given to the church, not a missions organization.
We feel like DBMI has the right philosophy of ministry, and we are excited about our partnership with them to reach a lost and dying world. Will you consider what your part may be in a potential partnership with us? Prayer, Love, and Financial Support, are all needed as we endeavor to reach the Dominicans with the gospel!
