Testimony:

I think most people think that when your father is a pastor, you are going to know and understand everything there is to know about Heaven and Hell and salvation.  But that’s not true.  At least not for me.  I was 9 years old before I really realized that I could not answer the question as to where I would spend eternity.  I was at school when I heard a story of some kids soul-winning and the question was asked, “If you died today, do you know if you would spend eternity in Heaven or Hell?”  I knew that it was one or the other, but I did not have the confidence to say for myself that I knew for sure that it would be Heaven.  So that night, I went to my parents and told them what had happened and they helped me understand that I could know for sure!  That night, I repented of my sins and accepted Christ as my Savior.

It was several years later, however, that I actually surrendered my future to whatever the Lord wanted for me.  I thought I had things all planned out; that I would be a pastor’s wife, or a teacher, but I never gave that to the Lord to lead me where HE wanted me to go and to do what HE wanted me to do.  But one day at a conference as a teenager, I surrendered to do whatever the Lord wanted me to do.

The Lord has allowed me to be a part of several different ministries since that time, but I would have never guessed that the Lord would actually consider me to serve on a mission field!  While on vacation with Steve in Honduras, I knew the Lord was working on my heart regarding missions but did not know in what capacity I could be used.  After all, I cannot surrender to be a missionary unless my husband is called too, right? The following week, at our fall missions conference, I felt the Lord tug on my heart again about missions, and on that Thursday night, I knew I had to talk to Steve about what the Lord was speaking to me about.  Amazingly enough, he felt the same way I did!  It was then and there we knew that this is what we were supposed to do!  Since that time, we have prayed for direction and the Lord has led us to be a part of Team Dominican under Daystar Baptist Missions!  I am so very excited about this new adventure in our lives and cannot wait to get to the Dominican Republic to work with the children and other ministries already at work there.  God has been SO good to us and continues to show us how He is going to take care of us.  I cannot wait to see what happens next!
